Product Design & Innovation
From initial idea to working prototype
Combining creative problem-solving with an engineering background, 3D CAD capability and a fully equipped workshop, I help clients develop ideas into credible, functional products. The process can begin with an initial sketch or concept visual before progressing through 3D development, design refinement and physical prototyping. This allows form, function and practical manufacturing considerations to be explored before committing to production.
Because I can also support branding, photography and video production, the creative process can remain connected from the earliest design stage through to the finished product and its eventual launch.
#1 Vector Stirrup
Unique Safety Stirrup - From LeMieux
The brief
Develop a working prototype for an innovative safety stirrup that offered enhanced balance and control without the additional bulk often associated with safety-release mechanisms.
A central challenge was the swing arm. When closed, it needed to lock positively into position and form a high-strength structural connection, while remaining able to disengage when required for rider safety.
This added structural integrity allowed the main stirrup frame to remain lightweight and low-profile, retaining the appearance and feel of a conventional non-safety stirrup.
The approach
The design was developed and refined in 3D CAD. This allowed the proportions, mechanism and component relationships to be evaluated before progressing to physical prototypes for further assessment. The project required creative design, mechanical problem-solving and a practical understanding of how the individual parts would ultimately be manufactured and assembled.
The outcome
The Vector progressed from initial concept to a finished commercial product and has since developed into an expanding LeMieux range.
Having contributed to the product’s design and CAD development, I was also commissioned to photograph the finished stirrup and produce its launch film—taking the project from early development through to its final campaign imagery.

Independent creative support for equestrian brands
For many years, I was closely associated with LeMieux, supporting the business across photography, graphic design, video production and product development from its earliest days.
That working relationship has now concluded, and I operate entirely independently with no ongoing affiliation to LeMieux or any other equestrian brand.
I understand the commercial sensitivity surrounding new products, campaigns and brand strategy. Every client’s information is treated in strict confidence, and I am entirely comfortable working under an NDA or agreeing appropriate category exclusivity for a defined project.
I’m now looking to bring my equestrian-sector knowledge and multidisciplinary creative experience to new collaborations, while approaching every brand on its own terms.
